Stoney Cove is an all year round dive site for UK Divers. It is considered to be one of the most popular inland diving sites in the UK! It is professionally run and on Saturdays and Sundays in the summer it can get as many as 1000 divers in one day!
The lake always has great visibility and there is lots to see. There is a helicopter, land rover, plane, nautilus and more. Unfortunately the helicopter has been vandalised almost beyhond recognition. The plane is quite interesting, but I don't think you are aloud to go into the helicopter or the plane. Look out for the land rover as it is difficult to spot. The nautilus is quite a new thing that they have put in. It has been specially built for divers. Don't turn up and vandalise it please!
When I last dived Stoney Cove in April the water temperature was about 6 degrees, but don't worry, it warms up later in the summer!
Have a look at these pictures I took when I last visted Stoney Cove in April 2001:
The pictures are a lot bigger and clearer when you click on them...
